Playscope 4 Parents

After receiving so many requests from parents for resources that they can use in the home, Playscope 4 Parents has been developed - essentially a starter kit for parents and carers. Playscope 4 Parents was launched at the Mother, Toddler and Baby Show, Colchester at the beginning of November.

As well as items being picked with safety and sensory variety in mind, the selection reflects the environmental and ethical ethos of this product as many of the objects are locally sourced or made by adults with learning difficulties. A useful list with safety guidelines helps parents to supplement the basket with easy to find items like a wooden spoon, teaspoon, nailbrush, bath plug etc. This way the basket will soon be brimming with a rich range of exciting objects.

The Playscope 4 Parents set consists of the following:

  • An 11” version of our organic Norfolk Willow Treasure Basket that’s easier to store in the home.
  • 20 richly sensory objects - many handmade and environmentally friendly. The selection is based on providing a good mix of objects that are harder to find or more expensive. Each set includes some handmade objects and some unique items made by adults with learning difficulties, e.g. a pottery pebble and purse.
  • hand stitched gingham cover available in three colours - lemon, lilac or blue. This helps keep the objects in one place and dust free. It can be embroidered as an optional extra to make a wonderful gift for a special child.
  • supporting guidance setting out the benefits of play with Treasure Baskets; links to the curriculum; developmental milestones; things to observe; and a list of items and safety guidance to help parents/carers supplement the contents with easy to find objects.

Playscope 4 Parents Activity Cards (coming soon)

  • Although parents can use the Playscope Stepping Out Activity cards, these contain extra information for practitioners and are designed to be small enough to be carried around by them for flexible use. Larger cards for parents with slightly more parent-friendly language are being produced. These will still identify curriculum links so will be suitable for child minders also. We hope to make these available later this year.

Playscope 4 Parents Full Resource Set

The Playscope 4 Parents set including Treasure Basket with 20 items, cover and guidance notes can also be purchased with both sets of Activity Cards.
