Benefits to Practitioners

  • Provides excellent play value as the same resource can be used by children aged 6 months to 6 years*
  • Satisfies the learning objectives set out in the EYFS framework that comes into force in September 2008
  • Builds on good practice, e.g. Reggio Emilia approach, Brain Gym, etc.
  • Provides a flexible resource for use for planned and spontaneous moments
  • Saves time
  • Inspires creativity
  • Saves money and space, as the same set of objects can be played with hundreds of Playscope games and the resource comes in its own neat storage bag

*In fact the age span is even greater. Staff nurses visiting the TES Education Show at Olympia from Great Ormond Street Hospital said “We’re going to use these resources with our premature babies to give them much needed sensory feedback.” Meanwhile at the Colchester Mother, Toddler and Baby Show, an eight year old girl played for an hour with the treasure basket and sand - then returned twice more to play! The Playscope Complete Set is being used by Sunfield Special School with children with autism up to the age of 19 years.
