Playscope resources are gaining an increasingly large following as practitioners realise the play value these activities offer to such a wide range of children.
Brilliant. Wonderful, absolutely loved it!”
Louise Little, Playgroup, Kirklees
I just wanted to say thankyou. [Playscope training] really renewed my enthusiasm for Treasure Baskets and for using them with older children, not just with babies. I’m going to go away and use them now
Jo Childs, Playleader, Milton Keynes
It’s a huge pleasure to use the Treasure Basket in my training. It’s added to my understanding of baby’s play. I suddenly saw it from the perspective of risk taking and contact with real objects. It shows you the value of flexible learning and flexible resources to enable this.
Barbara Isaacs, Chief Executive Montessori International, Nov 07
This is an excellent resource and one that I am using with most of my caseload at home and in nursery. It certainly gives parents and staff the ‘push’ to make their own.
SENCAN Keyworker, Essex County Council
From the very first time I saw the children’s responses to this resource I knew it would be something we would use to support children’s learning over and over again. Inspirational, fun and flexible, Playscope provides a resource which can be used spontaneously or as part of a planned activity. It is great!
Susan Moss-Thomas, EYPS NVQ Nursery Manager, Orchard Barns Private Kindergarten, Ardleigh - winner of UK Nursery of the Year (Nursery World 2006)
I love the introduction song at the beginning. As soon as the children hear it they all know what’s about to happen and gather round excitedly.
The resource is very much a child-led experience. I always find the children lead one activity into another.
The children can spend a long time just exploring and investigating the objects and their uses before the activity even begins.
The children began to bang some of the objects together. This led to us discussing the different sounds they could make and beating out rhythms and rhymes.

The children loved exploring different marks in the sand. This led to naming various shapes. One child made repeating patterns of squares with a wooden hammer.
The children gathered round the Basket as the song began. They loved having their own space and mat to sit on. (This refers to the Fidget Floor mats)
The children remained calm throughout the activity and began to show individual preferences as to which items they liked best.”
