Many of the items found in our treasure baskets have fascinating stories behind them. Here is just a small selection but do check the first in our new range of Mini-stories - The Story of the Loofah.

lavendar bag

Lavender bags are produced using handmade batik material provided by centres for adults with learning difficulties in Essex. “After experimenting with the adults making the bags themselves I think we’ve cracked it. They didn’t enjoy sewing up the bags and it took ages, so now they focus on what they like doing best, making the batik, I then get the bags made locally and each one is still a mini work of art.” Sue Gascoyne

Loofahs in Paraguay

As many of the objects are either handmade or locally sourced, actual contents may vary slightly.

The organic loofahs may not be locally sourced but they provide important income for small businesses in Paraquay
